In all seriousness this is a book that you will pick up, start to look at, and not want to put down.
The book is divided into movie catergories. As you start to read, you'll recognize many of the films Urbanek writes about, but you'll also soon find yourself turning to the person next to you and saying things like "Oh Yeah! Remember that movie??", or "Have you heard of this one?? Sounds interesting!"
If you live alone, you will say those things to your cat.
Great book, and highly recommended to spice up your (and your cat's) movie watching!
What a helpful book... definitely helps answer the question "what movie should we rent next?". I've already updated my Netflix queue with may of the author's recommendations. From her reviews of movies I've already seen, I can tell we have similar taste and she provides very accurate assessments of the movies. This is a great reference book to have on hand. Includes lots of films I have not heard of, but seem definitely worth watching!
This is a great book! Zuzana puts movies in categories, reviews them, then gives suggested lesser known or independent movies in that vein. Have a favorite movie? Look it up in the index, and then check out the other movies she suggests. You will seriously start with one movie, then before you realize it you've been reading for 10 minutes and have several movies jotted down that you can't wait to put on your Netflix queue. An excellent book that any movie lover should own. Well done, Zuzana.
This breezy, quirky guide proves grand fun for both the committed film buff and the casual movie viewer. Unlike other guides, Ms. Urbanek divides her selections into genres that she appears to have discovered. Gone are conventional chapters on horror films or action adventure; instead, there are sections devoted to everything from ensemble movies--why doesn't the Academy have an ensemble acting award?--to great flicks with surprise endings. I tend to think I've seen everything, but Ms. Urbanek's thoughtful, fun, and thorough entries on such films as The Beguiled and Alan Pakula's The Morning After finally got me renting movies I'd always promised myself I'd see.
This book does just what the title says it does. Consequently, I have several movies that I will order at Netflix that I never would of thought of seeing.
